From the lawn at Wood Park

Community stories.

These concerts have been part of Hoosick Falls for over ten years. If you have a memory, a favorite night, or a photo you love, send it along. The best part of this series has always been the people in the chairs.

Hoosick Falls, NY

We have been at Wood Park three summers in a row now, first with our daughter and now with our little boy too. She is three, he is one, and somewhere along the way these concerts turned into one of the things our whole family looks forward to all year.

Our daughter is the one who really runs the show. She dances right out in front of the gazebo, sings along to songs she has never heard before, and makes friends with whoever is sitting in the next chair over. We have met more of our neighbors on a Saturday night at Wood Park than we ever did anywhere else.

It matters to us that our kids hear music that is not just what plays in our kitchen. The series has been a really good way to do that. One week it is bluegrass, the next it is something our daughter cannot stop moving to, and they are getting all of it for free, in the open air, with the people who live down the road.

By the time the last song winds down the kids are completely worn out, full of laughter, sticky from something, and ready to be carried to the car. We are already looking forward to this season's lineup.
